So. Maryland, So Good is
designed to support the local community and agricultural traditions, and
promote the economic development of Southern Maryland. The Buy Local
campaign promotes local farm products and natural resources from the
Chesapeake Bay region of Anne Arundel, Calvert, Charles, Prince George's and
St. Mary's County. The marketing campaign helps consumers and buyers find
local farm products, including those from produce, hay, grains, flower,
nursery, agritourism and horse farms. The Buy Local, Buy Fresh message and
So. Maryland, So Good logo is a value-added campaign and ensures the
freshest quality and best quality products that are locally grown. Through
creative advertising, public outreach, children's education, the program
helps consumers find the farm to suit their needs.
Cultural heritage trails including agritourism farms, gardens, heritage sites,
restaurants featuring Southern Maryland local products are also featured, as
is a Kid s Cook program, designed to educate children and their families in
a fun and interactive way that benefits farmers, watermen, foresters and
agricultural business in the Chesapeake Bay region. The Southern Maryland
Agricultural Development Commission also administers the Tobacco Buyout for
the State of Maryland and supports agricultural land preservation - So.
